5 Years After Passing

Tonight I was watching a DVD on folksingers when the Bros. Four sang "Try to Remember" and made me remember those times 50 years ago when Mom used to play records (you know, those big flat vinyl things we put on a record player before, 8-tracks, cassettes, & Cd's) and we listen and try to sing along. Even years later when we get together for family gatherings, and we sing together, I still think of those as good times. Even though it was a couple days ago, her 5th anniversary of her passing, I still think of that wonderful woman who introduced me to music and think of the things that would have been different if I never would have developed my love for music because of her. No joining the band playing tromone, then the Marine band where I would come home on Mondays to a young adult family evening where I met my wife, which led to four great kids (thou Jaime, you nearly broke me mentally, LOL) and that led to 19 grandchildren (#19 due soon). Thanks Mom, because of you I have most of the joys in my life.

Update?

It's been a while since I updated my blog. Let's see, I've gotten a couple more grand kids, I retired from the state, I live part time with my daughter as she goes through a divorce, and spend my free time surfing the Internet.
Let's start with grand kids. during 2009 we had Kamryn, Emma, and Ammon born. Then in 2010, Lydia was born, and in 2011 we will have one more in August or maybe July. Rumor has it that it might be a girl which will even the boy girl ratio of grand kids. There are currently 8 boys (Chandler, Jacob, Andrew, Adam, David, Ammon, Westley, & Damon) and 7 girls (Lindsey, Katelyn, Jacquelyn, Alice, Kamryn, Emma, & Lydia.) And who knows what the future will hold.
My retirement started in August of last year (2010) when the state decided that I should be treated as a new hire, calling in everyday to find out where I was going to work. No permanent job position. After 24 years with the state, I basically said take this job and shove it. It was a slight pay cut but with Lori still working we are doing alright.
Jaime and Jason have called it quits and are getting a divorce and then Jaime started having some health problems. I've temporarily have moved in with her when she has custody of the kids which is about 3 threes of the month and the other week and a half, I go home to spend time with Lori. Since the weather is a little warmer in the Bay Area, I've started riding my bike and walking to start getting in shape as I've put a little weight on during the last couple of years (almost up to 230 lbs.) and need to lose about 30 lbs. of it. Zeus's training has come to a stand still as the 2 bedroom apartment the 4 of us are living in is too small for him to be with us. I've also taken a leave of absence from the search and rescue till I'm back in town full time.
Then there is the Internet surfing, which mostly consist of reading fan fiction stories of Harry Potter, time travel into the past and post apocalyptic stories. So that's some of what's been happening to me.
